Who has Your Life Caused You to Become?

As we move about in our day-to day-lives, observing and participating, we are constantly coming to conclusions about what our preferences are right now – what we like and what we don’t like – what we want and what we don’t want. When we are unhappy we want to be happy, when we don’t have enough money we want more money, when we are sick we want to be well, when we are unhappy in a job or with a partner we want to change the situation. We are always coming to new conclusions about what would make life better now – everything that is “becoming” in your life is coming as a result of your thoughts, preferences and choices right now.

That dissatisfaction isn’t a bad thing – it’s what propels us forward if we are willing to get out of our own way and go with it. Your life is like a river flowing towards the sea. You can never stand in the same river twice – because the molecules of water that were there a minute ago are gone now and there are always new molecules flowing through in the now moment.

The stronger your desires are in the now moment, the stronger your river is flowing. And the stronger your river is flowing the harder it is to try to buck the current. Can you imagine trying to run the rapids upstream – against the current!
Well, that’s just what you do when you resist being who life has caused you to become – who you are right now. You created who you are today on the shoulders of who you were yesterday. Today you are more than you were yesterday… and tomorrow you will be more than who you are today.

Are you resisting who your life has caused you to become – who your life is right now causing you to become?

How do you know if you are resisting or going with the flow that is you? You know by the way you feel! If you feel good, you are going with the flow. If you are cranky, ornery, bored, disinterested, restless, unhappy, you are resisting the flow…..You have a wonderful guidance system that is your emotions!

What’s the price you are paying for resisting your current? If you’re trying to paddle the rapids upstream you’re in for quite a fight. You’re not only fighting the river’s current, you are fighting the current moment (who you are right now this moment). You are fighting you.

How’s that going for you?

What would your life be like if you just let go and allowed yourself to go with the flow? What might be available to you if you allowed the current of your life to carry you? What would life look like from downstream and around the bend.
